The replica is in marble
The Nike of Samotracia is a sculpture in marble (h. 245 cms) of school rodia, attributed to Pitocrito, datable to 200-180 B.C. around and today preserved in the Museum of the Louvre in Paris.
The statue, recovered without head and arms, represents the "Nike", the young winged goddess adored by the Greek as personification of the sporting and war victory. The goddess, dressed with a light chitone, she is represented in the action to place on the bow of a battle ship.
