This sculpture is part of the series “Things” in which Dario Tironi, an artist from Bergamo who has gained international fame with his original creations, realizes them using entirely trash, old toys destined for landfill and scrap objects. He gives life to considerations about man and nature and in his sculptures the objects, the pieces of materials and the scraps have occupied the life of man to the point of stealing its structure and taking its form. The work aims to be a critique of the contemporary man, completely absorbed by the mechanics of capitalism and consumerism. Most of the objects are in fact disposable, but they are still able to say a lot about the nature and habits of contemporary men.
To be portrayed is the contemporary man who waits while reflecting with tragic intensity (even if in some ways happily post-modern) on the sense of a humanity increasingly concerned by the objects it possesses, and always less by its own innermost identity.
