The Kiss by Rodin

Auguste Rodin was a French sculptor and painter, he is considered modern sculpture’s father.
He was outstanding in modelling and he portrayed his characters in a very expressive and corporeal way.
This sculpture is extremely passionate, as shown by the man’s feet strong grab on the stone. It represents the kiss between Paolo e Francesca, the Italian couple immortalized in Dante’s Inferno. The nude couple is sitting on a stone. The triangular composition follows the lover’s embracement.
