Head of David after Michelangelo - Head of David By Michelangelo

This is one of the most famous sculpture in the world: the David of Michelangelo, a symbol of Renaissance and Florence.
The sculpture, four meters height, excluding the basement, is very imponent. It should have been placed in front of the Cathedral, but then was moved in front of Palazzo Vecchio. Today it’s in The Galleria dell’Accademia, in a tribune build by Emilio de Fabris.
Inside the museum it’s impossible to look into the David’s eyes, but if you have an accurate replica of the sculpture you can do it. The hero’s gaze is exceptional concentrated on the target: the giant Goliath. Half body is tense, the biblical hero is holding strongly the sling in one hand. The other half is relaxed. This body’s vertical division follows Greeks laws of harmony and proportion, the Canone of Policleto.
