It is the head of one of the most famous sculptures in the world: Michelangelo's David, symbol of the Renaissance and of the city of Florence. The sculpture, about four meters high, excluding the base, is very impressive. It was initially supposed to be placed in front of the Duomo of Florence, but was then moved in front of Palazzo Vecchio. Today he is located inside the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence, in a gallery specially created for him by Emilio de Fabris.
Half of the body is tense and contracted, the biblical hero holds the sling tightly in one hand. The other half is relaxed. This vertical scan follows the Greek law of proportion and harmony codified in the canon of Polykleitos. Unlike what happens in the museum, having a faithful replica of the head of the sculpture allows you to look David directly in the eye. The hero's gaze is extremely focused on the target: the giant Goliath. This imposing sculpture allows us to be able to observe the man's face closely, understand his effort, the concentration that can be read in his eyes, be able to go around him to always discover new and unprecedented sides of this exceptional masterpiece.
