The statue depicts god Hermes seated on a rock.
Hermes is depicted in a resting position, wearing only his winged boots, but he seems ready to jump on his feet in any moment.The statue was conceived to decorate the courtyard of the Villa of the Papyri and there it was originally found in 1759.
