Lost wax bronze casting
The Rape of a Sabine recalls the famous marble sculpture Rape of the Sabines by Renaissance Master Jean de Boulogne (1529-1608), but with three figures instead of two.
Bronze reductions of this famous masterpiece were produced both in Giambologna's studio and by imitation of other artists, due to the great success of the Florentine marble group.
